Founded in 2021 through the merger of the Independent Garage Owners
of North Carolina and the North Carolina Tire Dealers Association,
ASTA carries forward decades of service to the automotive aftermarket.
Today, we bring together shop owners, managers, technicians,
educators, students, vendors, and industry partners who believe
we are stronger when we work together. Through meaningful
relationships, education, advocacy, and resources, ASTA helps
independent automotive businesses prepare for what's next while
staying connected to the people who understand their world.

Our History
Built on Decades of Service.
Focused on What Comes Next.
ASTA's name began in 2021, but the history behind the Alliance
stretches back more than six decades. The merger of IGONC and
NCTDA brought together two longstanding organizations with a
shared commitment to serving independent automotive businesses.
1959
IGONC Is Founded
The Independent Garage Owners of North Carolina was established
to help independent garages navigate industry challenges,
strengthen business practices, and build relationships across
the automotive community.
1964
NCTDA Is Founded
The North Carolina Tire Dealers Association was formed to
advance the interests of independent tire dealers, encourage
the exchange of ideas and technical knowledge, and strengthen
industry standards.
2021
Two Legacies Become One
IGONC and NCTDA joined together to form the Automotive Service
& Tire Alliance, combining decades of history, relationships,
and service into one stronger organization.
Today
One Alliance
ASTA continues that legacy by connecting and supporting
independent automotive repair shops, tire dealers,
professionals, educators, and industry partners across
the aftermarket.
